This is people who should care

I have worked with people who are very vulnerable for over ten years and I work with people who have been in longer than that and the first topic when we got to work today was this programme. We at work were all so outraged and angry at what we had seen, this gives a bad name to all places and that is a shame because this is very rare, even so someone in their should have done something to stop this no matter what the cost to themselves at lease they would have their dignity and morales at the end.

Non of us had ever seen such disgusting behaviour from the staff and from supposedly experienced staff who allowed this to carry on, the abuse was so bad it was extremely hard to watch and I find it hard to think that these people think that this is acceptable behaviour for anyone at any time for any reason.

If you have not seen this Panorama programme then follow the link below but be aware it is not easy viewing, these people were supposed to be there to help and support the people in their care.

I feel very strongly that a prison sentence should be had by all that were involved and that CQC who ignored three attempts by a former employee to report abuse and while this all happened they inspected normally and found nothing of consequence, well maybe they should also be investigated for negligence.

I had foolishly thought that this kind of behaviour had gone way back when all those institutions were closed back in the 50s, 60s & 70s but this is a scary reminder that people can get in if they really want to, but all of us that believe that we are good at our job need to make sure we don't stand by and let this happen.

Sorry to rant but this really got to me and others I know.

A scary thought from Tony

Love to you all
