Now I absolutely love new technology and usually can't wait to get my hands on it, even though most of the time I have to wait because I can't afford it, but thats a whole different story.
most people now have a fair few up to the date technology going on in their lives, that being smart phones, PC's or Mac's, digital home phones, digital TV with HD or 3D tech on it, Sat Nav's etc etc etc I could go on but you get my point.
we to some extent all of this help us to make life easier and more exciting but it also has it's downfalls too.
I was just thinking about this last night as I was asked to drop something off at a friend of friends house, now I have been there twice.
now in the past I have always had a very good memory for getting to places, once I have been one time as long as I go exactly the same way I could get myself back there. I have now notice that I have started to rely on my Sat Nav to get me places and so I take very little notice of where I am or how I got there, so I had not get a clue as the were to go other than it was in West Swindon which is not much help really.
Why I was thinking about it last night was I was over West swindon last night and though I could drop it in but had no clue as to were to go, I though right I need a post code and then I can get there but this is not something you just carry around, especially for friend';s of your friends, in the end i had to just come home and now I have to go out there today with the post code.
I am going to try to get there myself with the sat Nav on silent and only look at it when really necessary, this way I can see if I am just relying on it but don't need to or if I really am getting that lazy (no comments from those that know me about he lazy thing please) so we shall see.
I will let you know the outcome, please let me know if you have similar issues?
Love to you all
Tony
Well guys I made it to the house, however not quite on my own. I got to west Swindon a different way to how my friend took me late time, I did try to follow that route but missed the turn and decided to carry on my way.
ReplyDeleteWell I got to the area I needed to be from memory and drove around a bit hoping my memory would kick in, alas it did not.
Ok I thought I will have to use my Sat Nav from here to get to the house, spo I go to get it from it's usual place in the car and oh F%$k it was not there, then I remembered that having recently had a bump in the car, it had to go for repair and I was advised to take it out.
Great Sav Nav at home and over in West Swindon for a second time in two days and can't get to the house, wait one minute, I think I have an Iphone there must be something on it to get me to the house.
After staring for several minutes at the screen thinking I know I have used something before i suddenly realise the MAP APP staring at me directly. so having turning on and out in the address it started to load.
I am now following my phone to get me there and I am literally only around the corner a few streets away, so driving along and suddenly I have gone to far so I turn round and go back and again gone to far, thus finding out that the phone has a bit of a delay on it and I have passed it several times now.
I blow up the screen read the street names and go from there and hey presto I get to the street I want, drive in and start to think I don't recognise any of the houses, it all looks different in daylight so I stop a lady and ask her where the house is and I was parked right outside.
So you can draw your own conclusions about and or technology but from now on I will try to take more notice of where i am going in the future.
bye for now guys
Haha I know the feeling, got lost in leeds today nightmare. Thinking of getting a loggerhead turtle as a pet as they have built in mineral compass in their heads and can go round world without getting lost... so surely could get round Leeds?
